RAMBAN, NOVEMBER 08: The District Task Force Ramban has initiated a robust rescue drive aimed at rehabilitating children in street situations, particularly those involved in child labor and begging.

The task force, including Assistant Labour Commissioner Amit Kumar, District Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Nighat Ghani and representatives from the Health Department, District Police, Child Helpline, and Child Protection Office, conducted unannounced inspections across shops, restaurants, roadside stalls, and workshops in Ramban.

During the operation, nine minors were rescued and subsequently presented to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for rehabilitation. The children have been temporarily placed at Palaash, a local Child Care Institute for boys, while further steps are taken to secure their welfare and future.

Assistant Labour Commissioner Amit Kumar emphasized strict actions against any business establishments found employing minors, which could include the revocation of business registrations and potential criminal proceedings against those involved in child trafficking or exploitation.

Chairperson Nighat Ghani urged the public to report instances of child abuse, trafficking, or exploitation to the District Child Protection Unit Ramban or through the Child Helpline at 1098, reinforcing community participation in safeguarding children.

The rescue team included Child Helpline Project Coordinator Muddasar Jiral, CWC Member Syed Adfar, Labour Inspector Roop Sharma, medical staff, police officers, and female constables, highlighting a coordinated approach across departments to address child protection concerns in Ramban.

This initiative underscores the district’s commitment to eradicating child labor and abuse, ensuring a safer and more supportive environment for all children.
