SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 4: In swift response to the recent flash floods that impacted Samba district, the Health Department has mobilized comprehensive medical relief operations.

The department successfully conducted 16 specialized health camps on September 4, 2025, providing critical healthcare services to 716 flood-affected individuals. These emergency medical interventions have proven instrumental in preventing potential health crises in the aftermath of the natural disaster. The comprehensive healthcare services included free medical consultations for all patients, essential diagnostic tests conducted on-site, free distribution of life-saving medications and catch-up immunization drives for children who missed routine vaccinations during the flood period.

As part of the preventive health measures, the Health Department undertook large-scale distribution of chlorine tablets to households for water purification, ensuring prevention of waterborne diseases through community water treatment initiatives. These proactive steps have been crucial in maintaining community health standards in the post-flood environment.

The Health Department has also launched targeted awareness campaigns focusing on multiple critical areas including flood-related health crisis prevention to educate communities on post-flood health risks, snake bite awareness and first aid management which is particularly critical given increased snake activity during floods, and ORS preparation demonstrations to empower families to manage dehydration at home. These educational initiatives have equipped residents with essential knowledge to protect themselves and their families during the recovery period.

“The Health Department remains committed to safeguarding public health during this challenging period. Our rapid response demonstrates our preparedness to handle health emergencies and protect our community’s wellbeing,” stated the health officials. The Health Department continues to monitor the health situation closely and stands ready to deploy additional resources as needed. Citizens are encouraged to contact local health authorities for any medical assistance or health-related concerns.
