Srinagar’s Star Hospital Operation Theater Shut Down Over Unhygienic Conditions

Srinagar, Aug 6 : Authorities in Kashmir capital Srinagar have cracked down on Star Hospital, located in the Sanat Nagar area of Srinagar outskirts after an inspection team uncovered appalling unhygienic conditions, including pigeon nests and dirt all around.

The team, led by Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Srinagar, Dr. Tahir Sajad was accompanied by ZMO Batamaloo, officials from the District Registration Authority, and members from Ayushman Grievance Cell.

The CMO expressed shock and dismay at the state of the hospital, stating, “I cannot explain the unhygienic conditions. There is a foul smell, dirt everywhere, and unbearable heat. We had no choice but to close the operation theater,” Dr Tahir Sajad told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

“The inspection team’s findings have raised serious concerns about patient safety and the hospital’s disregard for basic hygiene standards. We have closed the operation theater and will take legal action against the hospital management for putting patients’ lives at risk,” he said.
