GDC Vijaypur organises painting & National-Anthem Singing Competitions

SAMBA, AUGUST 07: NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) and Eco Club (GREEN WARRIORS) of Govt. Degree College Vijaypur organizes intra-college “National Anthem Singing Competition” and “Painting Competition” depicting important events of freedom struggle.

The NSS volunteers, green warriors and college students participated actively in both the competitions with great enthusiasm, zeal and fervor. The aim of organizing the events was to nurture a sense of patriotism among the college students. The competitions were organized under Swachhta Pakhwada programme in conjunction with the 77th Independence Day Celebrations under the able guidance of the esteemed Principal of the college Dr. (Prof.) Vandana Verma.

Nearly 15 students belonging to semesters III and V participated in the painting competition with great interest by putting their ideas and thoughts in a very creative manner. The participants portrayed beautiful paintings on various themes like painting martyrs, national flag, hoisting of flag at Lal Quila by Prime Minister and many more such themes.

In the painting competition, first position was attained by Kavita Anuragi of B.A. semester V, Secondposition was achieved by Sharda Devi of BA Sem V and third position was secured by Smriti Sharma of BA Sem V.
Whereas in the National Anthem Singing Competition, First position was attained by Amit Kumar of BA Sem Sem V, Second position was achieved by Sharda Devi of BA Sem V and third position was secured by Vishali Sharma of BSc.Sem III. Competitions were adjudged by Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce) and Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education).

Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of the students who put forward their ideas regarding ‘Independence Day’ through artistic paintings and through their melodious singing.She further articulated that Independence Day is not simply a day of pleasure and enjoyment for Indians but is also a day to commemorate those who gave their lives in service of nation as well as in achieving independence from Britishers.

Whole of the event was coordinated by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and Prof. Poonam Kundan (Nodal Officer Swachhta Pakhwada) and co-coordinated by Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) and Prof. Meetu Sharma (HOD Geography).
