Critical Care Blocks will improve health services: Dr Varinder Sharma
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegram

JAMMU, Feb 26: Co-convenor, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Professional Cell Dr Varinder Sharma has hailed the construction of new Critical Care Blocks (CCBs), foundation stone of which has been laid down by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that PM’s this initiative in creating thirteen Critical Care Blocks in Government Medical Colleges and district hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir will improve the health care facilities for common people.

The BJP leader said the Prime Minister has laid down the foundation stone for these Critical Care Blocks under Prime Minister-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) and COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package Phase-II. The existing Medical Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir though have Intensive Care Units (ICUs) but there was a dire need of having more beds which could increase the capacities of these health institutions. Now that CCB will be established in every district, healthcare facilities will improve.

Dr Varinder Sharma said that earlier because of shortcomings of beds, patients used to move to private hospitals outside J&K or within and pay a hefty amount for their treatments. Now that the Critical Care Units will be set up across Jammu and Kashmir, more and more patients will be able to seek benefits and better healthcare facilities at their doorsteps. He added that these thirteen critical care Blocks will add 750 new beds to the existing health infrastructure in J&K which is a good sign.

Dr Varinder Sharma said that if on the one hand these CCBs are coming up at Government Medical College, Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri on the other hand these facilities are also coming up at Kulgam, Budgam, Reasi, Poonch and Kupwara areas for the benefit of rural population. In future the patients will not have to travel long distances to reach cities for medical treatments but they will be able to get facilities in their own villages and towns.

This all could become possible with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is working tirelessly to ensure that each and every block of India gets better medical facilities and people don’t have to travel long distances for healthcare needs. This will ensure that people from long areas will not have to depend upon medical colleges located in cities; they will get health care facilities at their doorsteps, he added.

The BJP leader said the CC blocks were being constructed at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated all India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Vijaypur, Jammu where 190 critical care beds have been set up. Earlier patients used to take hours to reach the other districts for medical facilities or treatments and in this travel time many used to lose their lives but now that critical care blocks have started to come up in the respective blocks the patients will get better treatment in their own villages and small towns.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of 13 Critical Care Blocks (CCBs) at the district hospitals across J&K, virtually, from Rajkot, Gujarat. In addition, six mobile food safety labs, 3 each in the Jammu and Kashmir division have been made operational which will ensure that people get quality food products. Dr Varinder Sharma also hailed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for strengthening the Critical Health Care and Emergency Response System in the UT of Jammu Kashmir. The critical care units would provide services of emergency, surgical and intensive care to the patients in their respective villages and towns which is a big initiative.
